Recycling
FAQ’s
Q. How does ct-uk™ reduce
the environmental impact of its business activities?
A. At ct-uk, environmental stewardship is an integral
part of our business. We strive to operate facilities
to minimize harmful impacts on the environment, place
a top priority on waste minimisation, recycling and reuse
programmes, and pollution prevention, and design products
with the environment in mind.
Q. Is there a cost to me to recycle my computer hardware?
A. No. When you purchase a new ct-uk computer, we will
cover the cost of home pickup, shipping to the recycling
centre, and recycling of your old equipment.
Q. How many pieces of equipment can I recycle?
A. You may recycle up to 31kgs per box. PCs and monitors
will need to be boxed separately.
Q. What happens to my recycled computer hardware?
A. Recycled computer hardware is delivered to our recycling
partners, who provide economical and environmentally
sound management of the computer hardware recycling
process. Typically the hardware is de-manufactured,
although some usable parts may be removed for re-use.
The de-manufactured material is sorted by commodity
type (such as steel, aluminium, copper, plastic, etc.)
and then either re-used to make new products or disposed
of in an environmentally friendly manner. Not only
does this approach help protect our environment by
reducing the amount of material that goes to landfills,
it may also minimize the need for raw materials in
product manufacturing.
Q. What do I do with the data on my hard drive?
A. Before you ship your product, you will need to back
up any necessary data and remove all data from your
hard drive. You are responsible for the deletion of
all data that may be contained with the computer hardware.
If you need assistance in transferring data to a new
computer, consider purchasing one of ct-uk™'s home installation
services.
Q. What if I forget to remove data from my hard drive?
